Overcoming Diminished Ovarian Reserve with In Vitro Fertilization

32-year-old Sarmishtha (name changed) and her husband, Arnab (35), had been trying for a baby for over 2 years without success. Instead of delaying any further, the couple approached me for consultation.Following our first meeting, I suggested a few tests to measure her AHM (anti-Müllerian hormone) and FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) levels. The results indicated Diminished Ovarian Reserve (DOR) – a condition where the number and quality of eggs are lower than expected for your age. This makes it difficult to conceive naturally. Although DOR typically occurs due to normal ageing, it sometimes affects fertility in women as young as 30 years of age.In Sarmishtha’s case, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) looked like a good option. However, a few weeks before treatment began, she was given ovulation-stimulating drugs to be able to produce sufficient eggs. Fortunately, we retrieved a good number of eggs for fertilization and implantation. With IVF, Sarmishtha conceived in the very first attempt and gave birth to an adorable, healthy baby girl.
